You need to choose a Taxidermist in SA for mounting or decide about Raw ship to U.S.
There are various local taxidermists but the choice is yours.
Taxidermy Africa, who we use entirely and recommend highly, info@taxidermyafrica.com or tatrophy@intekom.co.za
If you choose to use a Taxidermist other than Taxidermy Africa our storage of your Trophies will cost $ 500 which is payable to Richard Holmes Safaris at the end of your safari, and is refundable if other taxidermist picks up your trophys with in a week of your departure. As we have a permanent long term relationship with Taxidermy Africa they are punctual about picking up your Trophies from us. The hunter must also supply enough tags from the other taxidermist for PH here to write on the details of each animal eg. hunters name, species, skull & horns, cape etc.( supply 3 tags per animal )
The cost of either dip and pack / raw prep or mounting includes insurance on all your trophies.
Your trophies will be taken care of by Richard and the staff until they are picked up by the taxidermist (about a month after your safari). All taxidermy payments go direct to the Taxidermist. When they pick up your trophies, they will contact you direct.
If you have your own taxidermist you should contact them BEFORE THE TRIP about the best way to handle the trophies coming back to the U.S. Should they be shipped direct to a tannery or to a broker close to your home? One thing about the animals in this area are the skins are generally in very good condition due to there not being as much thorn as in other area of Africa.
I DO recommend that whatever you do USE A GOOD BROKER in the U.S. The cost of taxidermy will vary with what animals you have taken, if you are getting only a dip & ship or full mounting services. YOU ARE going to have costs for taxidermy anyway you look at it.
Minimum cost getting to the U.S. is Dip & Ship/ Raw prep, BUT you will still have taxidermy in the US. There is also brokerage fee once the shipment hits the US & courier costs to your house or your taxidermist in U.S.
It is okay to ship more than one client's trophies in a crate with the condition (U.S. Law) that each hunter have their own set of export documentation (individual export permits). Each client then pays clearance and customs fees in US.

Note : With regards to Insurance of the trophies upon export, it is calculated on the current average trophy and taxidermy price. Insurance would cover loss or damage up to the Port of Entry. If lost or damaged, insurance will cover a replacement item or repairs from a local Taxidermist in the country of destination.
The hunt, flights and accommodation is not insurable.
