Subject: Trophies arrived
Our trophies arrived Friday, April 4th. The quality of work completed by Taxidermy Africa is excellent along with the crating of 16 mounts, tanned hides and curios. All parties referred to and worked with provided excellent service and results. We are keeping Justin’s trophies for a while as there is remodeling going on at his location. We have had many individuals along with 4 groups of Jr. High school students (over 50) look at the trophies. Some of the individuals are hunters and all have expressed how great the trophies look and the quality of the taxidermy work.
On more than one occasion while out hunting when something unique transpired, Lalase would comment,” We are making memories.” On every occasion there is time to admire the trophies, how true that statement was. The memories of the days out harvesting game with Lalase and John were enhanced with their knowledge of all the animals, their habits, the habitat, and uniqueness of the Karoo region. They both excel in their chosen profession. That knowledge was further enhanced in the evenings around the fire pit and dinner table as you provided additional information on these subjects. This greatly expanded the enjoyment and hunger for information on our first visit to South Africa and especially the Karoo region.
No visit with Richard Holmes Safaris would be complete without spending time with Marion observing the cats in the cat sanctuary. It is very evident the commitment Marion shows for this important project and the enjoyment she receives doing it.
The cuisine provided during our stay was superb with thanks to Marion and all staff for all the wonderful ways preparing and serving wild game meat along with the great side dishes. The hospitality exhibited by all staff from house cleaning, laundry, care of the trophies after harvesting, and everything in between was superb.
This was our first trip to South Africa, as well as Vicki’s first animal ever harvested, and all facets of the trip could not have been better. If all components were scripted out from start to finish before the trip, there is no item I would change after the fact. I contribute that to all the excellent advice and referrals for the travel agency, lodging in Johannesburg, as provided by Richard Holmes Safaris.
With many years experience hunting on the plains and mountains in the US, there is nothing that has provided the enjoyment and number of animals harvested in the period of time as experienced on our safari. There was only one problem, that being some of my shooting, but with an excellent PH (Lalase) and tracker (John) all animals selected were harvested.
Thanks for a great safari.
If the world stays upright and the bodies hold out, we will return.
