Thursday, 30th August 2012
Steve and Melinda Johnson from Dubois,Wy, but originally from Mn, USA
and Robert and Julie Sasker from South Dakota,USA
arrived safely yesterday for their Safari with us.
Wednesday 22 August 2012
Today was a great sunny but cool, calm day, unlike the past cold windy weather we had.
Melinda with her PH, Lalase, shot her Springbok at 230 yards. This is Steve and Melinda's fourth Safari in Africa, and they are having fun and enjoying seeing all the game - they had a Nyala cow, calf and a bull graze past them late this afternoon at only 20 yards while they were sitting ambushing for grey Duiker at last light.
Robert bagged a nice Springbok and then a great big Gemsbok at 250 yards, from which he got both his bullets which lodged perfectly under the skin on the opposite side of his shots. They are having a lot of fun also with their PH John. This is Robert and Julies first African safari and are they both blown away - so much game, so many species, that Robert is already trying to figure out how he can come back after only his first day out hunting here !!
A warm fire at the lodge, good stories and company, with a good dinner of tender Wildebeest Goulash, veges, starches, seven layer salad and triffle for desert was enjoyed by all !
Thursday 23 - Monday 27 August 2012
Melinda got her Mountain Reedbuck, a Grey Duiker and an Ostrich.
Steve also bagged an Ostrich and a nice Old Black Wildebeest.
Julie finally got her Gemsbok and a Mountain Reedbuck, and then a big highlight, a Grey Duiker - the biggest one we have ever taken over 28 years of professional hunting here !! Julies shot also topped it at 168 yards from standing sticks - on a duiker - wow & wow again !!
All four the hunters especially like our fair chase, walk and stalk hunting !
Good dinners of tender Kudu Schnitzel, Canelloni, Eland steaks on open coals and Braai/ BBQ with the usual excellent veges, starches, salads and deserts.
Tuesday 28 - Thursday 30 August 2012
Steve hunted an old Vaal Rhebok ram.
Robert took a Blesbok and Julie a very nice Impala.
The safari ended with a good bag of 15 animals and many very good Trophys !
