Michael Betters and Family Safari
Thursday, 16th August 2012
Tuesday 7 - Thursday 9 August 2012
Michael Betters, Karla, Mikes wife, Kayla and Taylor, their adult children, from WI USA, arrived safely without any problems on Tuesday in a cold and wet Karoo. Clifton/ camp was accessible through the river... but that changed ! Tuesday dinner was Roast Springbuck leg.
On Wednesday they hunted succesfully a Nice Kudu ( Taylor 150 yard shot ) and a Zebra ( Mike 180 yard shot ), in the rain and cold and then getting back to camp the river was too full for the 4x4 Toyota Landcruiser - so they all had to get across the suspension bridge with all equipment, coolboxes ( food and drinks for the day ), guns AND the Trophys !!
Well, with that achieved without any problems, a warm fire in the lodge and a good dinner of Zebra Goulash, veges, starches, seven layer salad and desert, an adventurous day ended!
Thursday, was a great sunny day and then the Big news is Kayla shot her first animal Ever - a great Blesbok trophy and she got blooded by her PH, Lalase - her shot was 200 yards long, the crawl on hands and knees was 500 yards far, so very well done to Kayla !!
Taylor bagged a nice Springbok, also on Thursday, at only 30 yards !!
Friday 10 - Sunday 12 August 2012
Michael and Taylor both got Grey Duikers, Mike a Springbok and Karla a big Blue Wildebeest and 2 Mountain Reedbucks ( Mike and Taylor ).
Dinners were Canaloni with Zebra mince, Kudu steaklets pan fried and a Braai ( bbq on the wood fire coals ) with duiker steaks and other meats.
Monday 13 - Wednesday 15 August 2012
Taylor took a nice Gemsbok. Dinners were roast Chicken and Schnitzel. Lalase took them all back to PE via Addo Elephant national park.
A very nice family hunt with a total of 12 animals taken and well done to Kayla on her first big game hunt !
