Hunting Gesmbuck in South Africa

  1. Hunting Species

Gemsbuck

450 pounds live weight. Regal looking. Large hooves enables it to move easily on lose sand.

Lives in open plains in herds, sometimes solitary.

Most shots 150 - 300 yards.

Bulls and cows have long sharp horns which are dangerous.

Highly heat tolerant - Gemsbok can be out in the worst heat ( over 50 deg C / 120 f ) due to the radiator system in the head to cool their blood ( black and white face is the radiator !)

Eat mostly grass.

Does not need to drink water - it gets enough from its higly efficient kidneys from the food it eats.
