Hunting Nyala in South Africa

  1. Hunting Species

Nyala

Nyala Bulls average 350 pounds and cows about 250 pounds live weight.

Live in herds in thick bush and adjacent open areas. Only bulls and have  horns. Cows look nothing like the dark bulls- cows are red in colour with many white vertical stripes.

There are scent glands on the forehead of bulls. The hooves are small for the size of the animal.

They eat mostly leaves off trees and only some grass and don't need to drink water.

Hunting them is difficult at times and some shots are close.
