Hunting Reedbuck in South Africa

  1. Hunting Species

Reedbuck

Rams average 100 pounds while the ewes average 60 pounds and have no horns.

Herds consist either of ewes with only one adult ram who remains in his area / territroy, while the ewes will cross other ram territories, or bachelor herds of young rams only.

The scent gland is a black patch at the base of the ear on the neck.

They live in both rocky bushy hills and mountains and graze in the open in early morning, night and evening.

When hunting, shots are mostly taken at 100-200 yards, and they are hard to see as they blend in well with their surroundings. They are a great species to spot and stalk.

They eat grass mostly and drink water daily.
