Details on all Taxidermy Costs and ALL other costs are below :

EXAMPLES of Total cost of getting your Trophys home ( Raw Prep of your trophys ), this is based on 2017 prices and cannot be exact as flight & courier prices can change due to oil prices varying :

EXAMPLE FOR 2 HUNTERS : Raw prep/dip and pack :

2 KUDU x $ 125.00 =              $ 250.00

2 GEMSBOK x $ 125.00 =        $ 250.00

2 SA SPRINGBOK x $ 125.00 = $ 250.00

2 IMPALA x $ 125.00 =              $ 250.00

Export permit fee is $ 50 PER HUNTER x 2 = permits $ 100.00

all 8 animals in 2 Crates ~ $ 100.00 per hunter x 2 crates = $ 200.00

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

( Sub total to here = $ 1,300.00 - payable to Taxidermist in the East Cape Province , only about 1-2 months after your hunt )

Customs clearing charges in the USA PER HUNTER approximately $ 450.00 x 2 hunters = $ 900.00

( only payable about 2 months after you have paid the SA taxidermist, when your trophys will be dipped and ready to go )

Air freight from SA to USA Airport of entry for customs ( Crate must enter the USA at a custom point, eg. JFK , WA) for 1-2 crates to New York ~ $ 520.00

( which includes insurance of ± $ 8,000.00 )( also only payable about 2 months after you have paid the SA taxidermist, when your trophys will be dipped and ready to go )

Transportation to Hunters taxidermist which could be anywhere in the USA (the distance will be the telling factor) for this 1 crate is approximately $ 500.00

( again only payable about 2 months after you have paid the SA taxidermist, when your trophys will be dipped and ready to go )

TOTAL is approximately 3,220.00 / 2 = ~ $ 1,610.00 / hunter ( then add cost of Taxidermy in the USA / at home )

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the prices of Taxidermy Africa Insurance is included and is calculated on the current average trophy fee and taxidermy price for all your animals. The hunt, flights and safari accommodation is not insurable.

If you choose to use an South AfricanTaxidermist other than Taxidermy Africa our storage of your Trophies will cost $ 500 which is payable to Richard Holmes Safaris at the end of your safari, and is refundable if other taxidermist picks up your trophys with in a week of your departure. As we have a permanent long term relationship with Taxidermy Africa they are punctual about picking up your Trophies from us. The hunter must also supply enough tags from the other taxidermist for PH here to write on the details of each animal eg. hunters name, species, skull & horns, cape etc.( supply 3 tags per animal )

The cost of either dip and pack / raw prep or mounting includes insurance on all your trophies.

Your trophies will be taken care of by Richard and the staff until they are picked up by the taxidermist. All taxidermy payments go direct to the Taxidermist. When they pick up your trophies, they will contact you directly with an Invoice via email.

If you have your own taxidermist you should contact them BEFORE THE TRIP about the best way to handle the trophies coming back to the U.S. Should they be shipped direct to a tannery or to a broker close to your home? One thing about the animals in this area are the skins are generally in very good condition due to there not being as much thorn and ticks as in other area of Africa.

I DO recommend that whatever you do USE A GOOD BROKER in the U.S. The cost of taxidermy will vary with what animals you have taken, if you are getting only a dip & pack & ship or full mounting services. YOU ARE going to have costs for taxidermy anyway you look at it.

Minimum cost getting to the U.S. is Dip Pack / Raw Prep & Ship, BUT you will still have taxidermy in the US or in your home country. There is also brokerage fee once the shipment hits the US, and depends which country also customs fees your end & courier costs to your house or your taxidermist in U.S.A. or home country.

Subject: Sharing of crates

Dear Richard,

We have been advised by a number of Clearing Agents in the USA that multiple hunters sharing a crate is becoming a problem primarily due to a US Customs issue and based on security reasons.

Every consignee should have their own AMS House Bill of Lading, whether ocean or air. Currently, for ocean it is mandatory that they be separated and there are Importer Security Filings (ISF) that must be transmitted to US Customs 48 hours prior to vessel departure.

To be 100% compliant in ALL ports, each hunter should have his own trophies in his own crate on his own House Bill of Lading.

There are certain ports that still allow multiple clients per crate however this IS going to change.

We are now going to pack each client’s consignment in his own crate to avoid any problems.

Yours sincerely,

Jeane Grieve ( co owner ) , John and Cathy Peacock

Note :

With regards to Insurance of the trophies upon export, it is calculated on the current average trophy and taxidermy price. Insurance would cover loss or damage up to the Port of Entry. If lost or damaged, insurance will cover a replacement item or repairs from a local Taxidermist in the country of destination.
The hunt, flights and accommodation is not insurable.

Certain species will incur a hunter additional charges on arrival in your country eg. USA : USDA, FWS, CDC, CITIES Exam / inspection and permit fees, which are minimal but there. eg. Monkeys, Baboons, Mongoose, Warthog ( disease check ), Cats and Bontebok ( Cities ), see about this and more on
